After reports of the death of the VW Kombi in Brazil, and then the withdrawal of said reports, it's on again. Seems like it's for real this time. Everybody and their grandma are reporting that Brazilian transport minister Aguinaldo Ribeiro has destroyed all hopes of postponing the law that requires all new cars to have airbags as standard. Which, the Kombi aside, is actually a good thing.

So... VW, wen make Bulli?
(yes I am aware that the target market for this is way different than that of the Kombi)

The Kombi was very popular in Brazil for a looooong time. Much longer than in the rest of the world. Sad to see it gone.

Someone at VW is probably considering whether it's cheaper to replace the vehicle or bribe the minister.

Yep.
I don't doubt for a single second that in a few years, a new Itamar appears and try to bring Kombi back!
